Jellyfish streamers/tentacles

I’ve found streamers to be easiest and most fun when done freeform. They are all slightly different, but I used the same basics for each to keep consistency. You can check out my curl tip sampler to get an idea of what each curl type will look like. You can also change the hook size for a different look. I used a G hook for the blue jellyfish and an H hook for the purple jellyfish. Each jellyfish has 8 tentacles of varying width and length.

30, 40, 50, 60 and even 70 chains.
Work 2 (or 3) sc in each chain stitch OR work 2 (or 3) hdc in each chain stitch. If you’re starting with sc, switch from hook to chain 2. If you’re starting with hdc, switch from hook to chain 3.
Now, think of it as Choose Your Own Crochet Adventure. Continue working with sc or hdc, making 2 or 3 stitches in each chain, then secure leaving a tail.
I found it better if you stick to a particular pattern long enough to create the right curl, then swap it out later to create a different type of curl. Do not change your stitch type too quickly. You can curl the curly tips neatly or leave them messy, it’s up to you!

Meeting

Step 1: Attach the safety loops to the hat between rows 12 and 13, about 8 loops apart.

Step 2: Use embroidery thread to sew a mouth between the eyes.

Step 3: Attach the tentacles to the bottom panel by threading both ends of the tentacles through the seam gaps in the panel and double knot to secure. You can braid or not weave the ends, as they will be hidden inside the stuffed head. Since I don’t know how far the children will pull the tentacles, I chose to knit from the ends.

Step 4: Match the seam seam of the panel with the seam seam of the cover. Thread your hook through both loops (front to back) in a seam on the cover and pull one loop of the tail of the panel. Make a chain stitch. Next, thread your hook through the same cover stitch and pull up one loop from the first stitch on the panel and complete one sc. (If you skip this, problem d
